BRADFORD CITY 1 LEEDS UNITED 3

The inability of the Bradford City forwards to press home promising approach work led to defeat in their floodlit friendly before a crowd of 4,619 at Valley Parade last night. In the first half particularly they had enough shooting chances to have made a draw of it, but the Leeds goalkeeper was only troubled twice, first when Miller escaped the octopus-like clutches of Charles to send in a scorching twenty-yard drive which Wood tipped over the bar, and midway through the second half when he only partially stopped a Squires drive and Gibson kicked off the line from an ensuing scramble. The Leeds forwards were more direct and dangerous. Barry Smith won the game for them in the second half, by scoring two goals, one from a penalty. Vickers (United) and Robb (City) were the first half scorers
